Christian vs New Age

Early Origins of Mind-Body Work

“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

Mark Twain

Eastern scholars were early to gain an understanding of the mind/body connection and how the energy of the human body is aligned to encourage natural healing. They did so from Eastern medical and religious perspectives, including Eastern viewpoints of holism.  Their views involve the integration of many perspectives including Hinduism, Buddhism, Pantheism, Universalism, Taoism as well as others.  As a result, the early Eastern practitioners saw mind-body interactions through their philosophical/religious beliefs and described them as such.

The basic premise of these philosophies/religious beliefs is that “one is all and all is one”.  They see everything as being of the same essence and intertwined, thus, all is god.  This is what the Western culture now describes as New Age teaching and philosophy.  This mix of philosophical and religious beliefs contradict biblical Christian understandings and beliefs.

The one thing that is similar is the observed awareness that there really are mind-body interconnections.  There are many scientific studies that show that the mind effects on the body and the body effects the mind.  The Bible also supports that the spirit, soul, and mind are interconnected and affect one another. There is energetic exchange between one’s human spirit, soul, and body.  Therefore, the basic Mind-Body connection is not the issue. (The Bible in I Thes. 5:23 presents spirit, soul, and body suggesting interconnection as a whole)

ALL ENERGY IS GOD’S ENERGY.

One example is in Colossians 1:29 ESV Bible. There are many more biblical indications that energy originates with God.  It is accessible to all humans.  We all use energy every day – whether or not we trust and follow God’s principles, is the issue.

The issue is the belief system of the practitioner.

Those who believe there is a God, (Who is a person, the Creator of all, and who is above us in hierarchy), choose to be in submission to the Lord God Almighty and His Holy Spirit.  They follow what God reveals in the Bible as their guide to connect to God as their source or agent of change to accomplish positive change and healing with energy flow between the spirit, soul, and body. These practitioners are aware of God’s boundaries and principles, and respect them as they practice.

Those who believe “all is one and one is god” often seek to use their own human spirits, crystals, the universe, occultic practices, etc., as the source for moving energy for healing.  This can leave one open to demonic influence and a a serious problem.

Those who follow a Christian Energy Release protocol under the guidance of God’ Holy Spirit are using effects of energy flow in accordance with God’s design and principles – plus submitting to and seeking the mind of God in the process.
